The Crest
This afternoon I attended a city-wide prayer and praise event called, rightfully so, “The Crest.” This amazing event was a combination of several music groups from local churches and numerous clergy members. Each clergy member had a five minute time slot to talk/pray about what is on their heart and how God is moving in Fargo-Moorhead through the flood. The two hour event felt like 15 minutes.
It was powerful to see the broad array of members of the clergy come together for this one single event. The Catholic Bishop of the Fargo Dioceses, the Minnesota and North Dakota ELCA Bishops and Senator Mathern were there along with several local pastors, including ours truly, Dave Motta. Several denominations were represented such as Methodist, Baptist, Evangelical, Assemblies of God and Lutheran. Although we all worship in different ways, we all worship the same sovereign God, right?
There was a free will offering taken in which 100% of the proceeds will be divided between the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross and will ultimately be given to families in need due to the flood. The Dakota Medical Foundation will match the donation up to $10,000. The amount of offering given the event was over $7,000 which did not include any donations that may have been given online.
The entire event was powerfully refreshing. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that I was in tears most of the time.
